We Had An Eager Member Waiting For Us At The Park This Morning
We have an unwritten rule in the Malden Yacht Club. You can participate with us once and still feel free to deny you know anything about us. But come back a second time? If you do that, then you will be permanently linked with the odd birds that comprise our group … no matter how hard you protest that you’re not a loon. Certainly any eagle ought to know that.
So Splash, Do You Think You And Ol’ P Can Find Your Way Through These Ice Floes
Less than two weeks ago, Splash and I paddled with a pair of eagles. Although that trip ended in an unexpected manner more than sufficient to warn the dimmest wit that the Malden Yacht Club might be a group best avoided, one of the eagles decided to come back for more. Nor was he the least bit hesitant. This eagle was waiting at the park for us to get ready, and if anything, he was impatient to get going. Yes sir, this eagle was no chicken!
Chicken? Me? I’ll Have You Know That I Eat Chicken For Breakfast!
So, under the eagle eye of an early eagle, Splash, Pauldo, the Bad Idea Man and I hustled to get our kayaks on the water. Unfortunately, Bullwinkle was under the weather and wasn’t there to hustle us along, although his spirit seemed to take a feathery form. Listening to Bullwinkle’s “get going you scallywags” is bad enough; putting up with an impatient eagle is over the top. And “over the top” was the route our new friend chose to take. On the bright side, he doesn’t drink much during the post-paddle fluid replenishment sessions.

6 March 2010, 10:33 amSorry we didn’t participate.
Cause when its winter we have to go up the mountain to play in the snow.
A floe with an eagle we did not see, but a waterfall ,frozen, filled us with glee.
We love to paddle, we’ll be there soon,
Maybe with the next full moon

I received some pictures of Coop, Mary PatPins and Captain Mike frolicking in the snow, so I know that the MYC has been active off the water as well as on. In a week or so (when I’m sure it’s safe to do so) I plan on posting a pictorial report on MYC activities during the now-departed winter. Anyone (other than Pauldo) who has pictures relating to this theme should feel free to send them to me.
